Winter 2023/2024 Fundraiser

This winter, we invite you to join us in celebrating the regenerative nature of the season and the worker-owned cooperatives that are transforming New York City by helping us reach our goal of raising $20,000 by March 1st, 2024.
As the New York City Network of Worker Cooperatives (NYC NoWC), our mission is to support, nurture, and empower worker-owned cooperatives across New York City through professional development and direct financing opportunities, facilitating co-op to co-op skill and resource sharing, and through fierce member-led advocacy for worker-owned co-ops at the local, state, and federal level to ensure their long term viability and success!

* Emergency Grants. In an increasingly precarious economy and a worsening cost of living crisis, worker cooperatives are often faced with unique and unexpected financial challenges. Your donation can help us provide emergency grants to cooperatives in need, ensuring their survival during tough times.

* Professional Development. Knowledge is power. Your contribution will support workshops, trainings, and mentorship programs that equip cooperative members with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive.

* Networking Events. Building connections is essential for any business. Your contributions will help us organize more networking events to help cooperatives collaborate, share ideas, and create a supportive community.

* Growing the Solidarity Economy. With your support, we can help more workers transition their workplaces into cooperatives by providing guidance, resources, and assistance to make this dream a reality.

* Expand our staff to be better equipped to support the growing number of worker cooperatives in our network.

$20,000 GOAL!

Ways you can help us reach our goal:

* Make a contribution today! Your financial support is invaluable. Every dollar you contribute helps us support worker cooperatives and foster economic justice in our city.
* Consider becoming a sustainer. Sustainers are key to creating stability and agency for our network of worker cooperatives by providing consistent and sustainable funding that is aligned with our cooperative values of solidarity, community, and mutual aid.
* Spread the Word! Share our campaign with your friends, family, colleagues and comrades. Let them know that by supporting worker-owned cooperatives, they are investing in a brighter, more equitable future for NYC.

Thank you for your continued generosity and support.

What is the solidarity economy?

The solidarity economy is an alternative economic framework that emphasizes social and environmental justice through community and collaboration. It is a way of organizing economic activities that seek to address some of the economic and social inequalities produced by capitalism by prioritizing sustainable development and community well-being through cooperation, mutualism, and democratic decision-making. Economies of solidarity represent a transformative approach to economics that seeks to build more just, inclusive, and sustainable societies by reimagining economic relationships, systems, priorities, and practices. From worker-owned cleaning companies and bookstores to mutual aid networks, community gardens, housing co-ops, credit unions and more– the solidarity economy encompasses a wide range of initiatives, offerings, services, and support all aiming to improve the lives of the communities they serve. Key features of the solidarity economy are: community, cooperation, democratic governance, social justice, equity, and environmental sustainability.
